It slots into our skinny foyer like it was built for the space. The depth is ideal and it does not jut out into the traffic path. The light finish bounces the light around and makes the corridor feel airier. The storage addresses our number one source of clutter.

The general finishing is solid. The trim on the edges is consistent and free of glaring defects. The hardware for moving the shelves is easy to figure out. The build did take some muscle, but the guide will see you through to the end. Any faint odor it had was gone after a couple of days of airing out.

The steadiness of the piece once it is built is very reassuring. If you grab it and give it a firm jostle, there is just the faintest hint of play. Strapping it to the wall with the included brackets pushes that safety factor even higher.

The days of tripping over a mountain of shoes by the entrance are over. There is a surprising amount of room hidden behind those three fronts. All the daily footwear for our family of four slips in with room to spare.

The hue and grain pattern are dead ringers for the online photos. I selected the darker wood tone, which presents as more expensive and does a great job of masking dust. A quick wipe with a wet rag keeps it looking fresh.
